The large tree that blocked an approach from the right side of the fairway was removed after the 1999 tournament and a run-up area created in front of the green. It opened up the approach angle from the right side, but a bunker was dug 280 yards off the tee to narrow the driving area. The championship tee was moved back 10 yards, and the hole will play even longer than listed when the prevailing west wind is up, so the deep bunker in front of the green should continue to catch a lot of balls. The shallow green was extended 30 feet to the left to provide more pin positions.
