Big crowds turn out on the hill left of the green to work on their tans and see some of the world's best golfers turn red. With the green 40 yards long but only 15 yards wide, and bordered right by a stream and left by hillside bunkers, it has been rated by some as the best "short hole" in golf because of the immense challenge it offers in spite of its length. The pros generally play a fairway wood or long iron off the tee to stay short of a creek crossing the fairway 280 yards off the tee and leave themselves a short iron or wedge to the green. "It really makes a guy think about which club to use," course designer Jack Nicklaus said. Most of the pin areas are flat and generous enough that a well-played approach should yield a makeable birdie opportunity.
